Born Agnieszka Skrzypek in Warsaw, Poland on January 17, 1976, the Polish jazz
vocalist is better known by her stage name Aga Zaryan. She was the first Polish
musician to sign with Blue Note Records. Zaryan’s father was a classical pianist
and she spent her early years traveling throughout Europe, spending her primary
school years in Manchester, England. In her teens, after hearing the music of
Ella Fitzgerald and Miles Davis, she turned her attention from tennis to become
