Ahmed Soultan was born on June 17, 1978 in Taroudant, a town in southwest
Morocco on the Souss plain. Very early on, he began mixing the hip-hop, funk and
soul of his generation with traditional sounds such as the darbouka, ribab and
guembri of the Gnawas, developing a style he called Afrobian. Mixing Arab and
Amazigh identity, he seduced the Maghreb with his first album, Tolérance , in
