Popular known as "Los Pitbulls" and "Los Reyes del Perreo," Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Alexis & Fido began performing in the early 2000s. From a very young age, Raúl Alexis Ortíz and Joel "Fido" Martínez were involved in the island's burgeoning reggaeton scene; the former made his debut in 1996 with the group Boricua Selecta while the latter made a name for himself as a producer on some of the genre's most iconic albums, including Yandel's Quién Contra Mí (2003), Wisin's El Sobreviviente (2004), and Daddy Yankee's international blockbuster Barrio Fino (2004).
