Brazilian singer-songwriter Ana Carolina was heavily influenced by the musical
styles of Björk, Nina Simone and Alanis Morissette. Surrounded by the music of
her homeland including Maria Bethânia and Joao Bosco, she channelled the mix of
influences to create her own unique style on her debut record 'Ana Carolina',
released in 1999. On the back of a Latin Grammy nomination for the album, she
quickly began work on her second offering which came in 2001 under the title
