German countertenor Andreas Scholl made his debut in 1994 in Le Messie conducted by William Christie, and exploded in 1998 at the Glyndebourne Festival in Handel's Rodelinda . Since then, René Jacobs's pupil has toured the world's stages with great success, appearing on the best-selling lists of Baroque music recordings. He has sung Pergolesi's Stabat Mater in 1999 and La Passion Selon Saint Jean with Philippe Herreweghe in 2001, as well as more commercial recordings such as Andreas Scholl Goes Pop in 2007.
