Double bassist Barre Phillips is renowned for his work in the jazz genre. He has
recorded with many successful artists including Eric Dolphy, Jimmy Giuffre, Lee
Konitz and Dave Holland. He released a recording of solo improvisations, titled
'Unaccompanied Barre', in 1968 before collaborating with Dave Holland on 'Music
from Two Basses'.
Relocating to France in the 1970s, he joined jazz group The Trio along with
saxophonist John Surman and drummer Stu Martin. He became a frequent player with
