Born in London in 1939, pianist and organist Brian Auger got his start with the Steampacket group, which in 1965 included Rod Stewart, Long John Baldry and Julie Driscoll. The following year, he formed the Trinity Ensemble with Driscoll, which scored big hits with Bob Dylan's cover of "This Wheel's on Fire" and Donovan's "Season of the Witch". In 1970, he switched from psychedelic pop to jazz fusion with the Oblivion Express project, which produced a handful of ambitious albums.
