A committed French singer-songwriter, Colette Magny left the traditional
framework of protest songs and poetry to venture into blues and free jazz. Born
in Paris on October 31, 1926, she started out as a bilingual typist at the OECD
(Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), then resigned to embark
