King of ska and pioneer of rocksteady, Derrick Morgan was also a talent scout who gave beginners like Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff and Garnet Silk their chance. Derrick Morgan began his career in 1957 and became Jamaica's most popular ska artist in 1960, with a string of hits including "Don't Call Me Daddy " and "In My Heart". From 1965 onwards, he was a forerunner of rocksteady, with tracks like "Tougher Than Tough" and "Conquering Ruler".
