Di Melo (born April 22 1949) is a Brazilian singer and songwriter in the funk, soul and samba genres. He was born Roberto de Melo Santos in Recife, but moved to Sao Paulo in the late sixties. Beginning his career by working at bars as he wrote his songs, he finally caught the attention of the EMI-Odeón record label, with whom he recorded and released his seminal album Di Melo in 1975. The album featured the participation of renowned names within the Brazilian music scene, such as Hermeto Pascoal and Geraldo Vandré.
