Danish singer and musician Dicte was born Benedicte Madsen in Glostrup in 1966.
She cites Janis Joplin as one of her main influences and Joplin's trademark
powerful delivery is reflected in Madsen's own vocal style. After moving to the
town of Aarhus at the age of 21, Madsen formed the band Her Personal Pain who
became a national success after appearing at the 1990 Roskilde Festival.
Following the release of their critically-acclaimed debut album in 1992, Madsen
