Eduardo José Herrera de los Ríos (April 30, 1964), better known by his stage
name Eddy Herrera, is an award-winning Dominican merengue artist. Born in
Santiago de los Caballeros, he began taking guitar lessons from a local teacher
at the age of 9. He also participated in several talent competitions, winning
the Festival of the Voice of Santiago when he was just 17. In the following
years, and much to the dismay of his mother, Eddy Herrera dropped out of college
