Brought up in Glasgow, Fran Healy was given his first guitar at 13 and started
playing old rock'n'roll hits. Soon writing his own songs - his opening effort
was Mr Mullen Blues about his school headmaster - he played in various school
bands before joining a group called Glass Onion. They changed their name to
Travis (named after the main character in the movie Paris, Texas) and came to
refer to their first single All I Want To Do Is Rock in 1996 as their theme
