Known artistically as ILoveMakonnen, American Makonnen Sheran was born on June
13, 1989 in Los Angeles, California. Of African, Indian, Irish, German, Chinese
and South American descent, he is a perfect summary of the density of the
American melting pot . In 2002, his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where
ILoveMakonnen developed his taste for music, with its mix of soul, pop and R&B
influences. He made his debut on MySpace in 2008, before being sentenced the
following year to four years' probation for a murky manslaughter case. Spotted
