Author, composer and arranger renowned for his collaboration with Serge
Gainsbourg, Jean-Claude Vannier has made a name for himself in both chanson and
film music, in an orchestral, sometimes experimental style. Born in Courbevoie
on March 4, 1943, he taught himself orchestration and began working with Johnny
Hallyday, Michel Polnareff, Barbara and Brigitte Fontaine. His talent for
arranging attracted Serge Gainsbourg, who entrusted him with the orchestrations
