Jeff Hamilton

Born August 4, 1953 in Richmond, Indiana, Jeff Hamilton is a jazz drummer best-known as the co-leader of the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. His musical career began in 1975 when he joined jazz pianist Monty Alexander’s trio. He then spent 1977 and 1978 playing in Woody Herman’s Orchestra. Hamilton then replaced Shelly Manne in the L.A. Four in 1977 and went on to record six albums with them. In 1985, he co-founded the Clayton-Hamilton Orchestra with saxophonist Jeff Clayton and bassist John Clayton.
