Jesca Hoop is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist who has gained a
substantial following due to the wide range of her musical styles that music
critic Alexis Petridis called "compellingly unique and hard to pigeonhole". Born
in California to Mormon parents, she sang hymns and folksongs as a child, broke
from the church as a teenager and after a time living in rural Wyoming and
Arizona moved to Los Angeles. There, she worked as a babysitter for the children
