Jonathan Douglas "Jon" Lord was Deep Purple's co-founder and keyboardist from 1967 to 2002. Co-author of the hit "Smoke On The Water" with Ritchie Blackmore and author of several solo albums, he died of a pulmonary embolism following pancreatic cancer on July 16, 2012 in London, aged 71.
