A pioneer of "old school" rap, he started out in 1977 at block parties and clubs
in Harlem and the Bronx, accompanied by Run and DMC (future rap glories). In
1979, he became the first rapper to be signed to a major label (Mercury). A
successful decade followed, with eight albums. Kingdom Blow (1986) features a
duet with Bob Dylan, "Street Rock". Now settled in Hollywood, Blow turned his
attention to film.
