Formed in Manchester in 1978 by Howard Devoto (vocals), John McGeogh (guitar,
saxophone), Barry Adamson (bass), Bob Dickinson (keyboards) and Martin Jackson
(drums). They are one of the bands who initiated the transition from punk to new
wave. Magazine produced an essential record: the first Real Life album.
