Mart’nália Mendonça Ferreira, known simply as Mart’nália, was born on September 7, 1965, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is a singer, songwriter, percussionist, and actress. As the daughter of legendary sambista Martinho da Vila and singer Anália Mendonça, Mart’nália was immersed in music from an early age. Mart’nália began her professional career at 16, providing backing vocals for her father alongside her sister, Analimar.
