Jamaican singer and DJ musician Mavado is best known for his dancehall and
reggae music. Mavado (real name David Constantine Brooks) was born on 30
November, 1980, in Kingston, Jamaica, and takes his stage name after the Swiss
watch company Movado, ultimately altering the spelling. Mentored by personal
idol, Bounty Killer, Mavado eventually caught the eye of dancehall music
business mogul Julian Jones-Griffith, who would eventually become his manager.
His first single (and signature track), "Real McKoy", was released in 2005
