Punk rock trio Mongol800 – also known as Monpachi- formed in Urasoe, Okinawa,
Japan in 1998. Comprised of Uezu Kiyosaku (vocals and bass), Gima Takashi
(guitar), and Takazato Satoshi (drums), the group released their debut album, Go
On As You Are, in 2000. The album went on to sell a million copies, making
Mongol800 one of the hottest bands in Japan at the time. The success of the
debut paved way for the massively successful sophomore album Message, which sold
nearly three million copies. Mongol800 continued to release a series of popular
albums - Momo (2004), Daniel (2006), Etc....
