Describing themselves as "a punk Wilson Phillips", Los Angeles pop trio MUNA
make big, glossy synth anthems about the joys and challenges of being young and
gay, and are a part of a new generation of all-female bands kicking 'girl power'
into a new era. Formed whilst studying at the University of Southern California
in 2013, Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin and Naomi McPherson started out playing
college parties and making experimental, noisy electronic pop, before releasing
