Now United is the brainchild of Simon Fuller, the media-savvy ex-Spice Girls manager and creator of the 'American Idol' franchise. Fuller's idea was to have a band comprised of a large number of members each representing the country of their origin. To this end he despatched a team of 20 talent scouts around the globe for 18 months overseeing regional auditions to select the members.
