The charismatic lead singer of Bauhaus from 1978 to 1983, Peter Murphy went on
to form the short-lived Dali's Car with Mick Karn (Japan), before devoting
himself to a solo career that began in 1986 with Should the World Failed to Fall
Apart. A post-punk figure with theatrical vocals, he released six albums,
including Love Hysteria (1988), Deep (1990) and Holy Smoke (1992), until Bauhaus
reformed on stage in 1998. His move to the U.S. gave rise to several group and
