Quarterflash
Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Quarterflash has the unique distinction of having
a female singer who is also a saxophonist. Formed in 1980 on the initiative of
Rindy Ross and her husband, guitarist Marv Ross, Quarterflash rose to fame the
following year with their FM rock and new wave-influenced pop rock style,
represented by the single "Harden My Heart". The song exploded on local radio
before the band signed with Geffen Records, making it a hit. After the United
