Quicksilver Messenger Service released seven albums between 1965 and 1975 but
enjoyed only modest commercial success. Despite the lack of significant album
sales the band came to define the so-called West Coast sound which engulfed the
San Francisco Bay area during the late 1960s.
The band's early career is perhaps typical of the time and their professional
lives are punctuated by drug busts and incarceration followed by the inevitable
