By combining the tempos of dance-pop with the overdriven guitars of alternative
rock, Republica scored a pair of worldwide hits during the 1990s. "Ready to Go"
was the first Top 40 single for the British band, which was formed in 1994 by
keyboardists Tim Dorney and Andy Todd. Vocalist Saffron joined the group in
1995, and Republica released its debut album one year later. The self-titled
Republica peaked at Number 4 in the UK, with "Ready to Go" becoming a hit not
