celebrated for her soulful voice and heartfelt performances. Born on 1 January
1958, in Kumamoto, Japan she made her debut in 1973 with the “Kakurenbo” (かくれんぼ
Hide and Seek) single for Nippon Columbia and quickly captured the hearts of
national audiences with her traditional singing style and soul-stirring lyrics.
Over the decades, she has earned her icon status through the release of numerous
