German singer Simone Kermes (b. Leipzig, 1970) distinguished herself in the
Mendelssohn-Bartholdy competition in Berlin and the J. S. Bach competition in
her native city, before going on to shine on international stages. Her light,
dramatic soprano timbre is particularly well-suited to the Baroque operas of G.
F. Handel, which she performed in succession, or to Mozart's great classical
operas, from The Abduction from the Seraglio and The Magic Flute to Cosi fan
tutte and Don Giovanni. The "Queen of the Night", with her flamboyant red hair,
has won numerous awards for her recitals...
