Alternative rock singer and songwriter Tavito Nanao was born in Japan on August
20, 1979. Growing up in a rural area of Japan, he listened to his father’s jazz
music collection. When he was 13, he discovered other musical genres including
alternative and rock. Inspired by the grunge movement, he began writing songs in
late 1994 and by 1996, he had dropped out of high school and relocated to Tokyo.
Within a year, he had already recorded a demo that got him signed to Sony Music.
