Tool are an American metal rock band formed in Los Angeles in the early 1990s by
vocalist Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, drummer Danny Carey and
bass player Paul D'Amour who left in 1995 to be succeeded by current bassist
Justin Chancellor. Their 1993 debut album 'Undertow' went to number 50 on the
Billboard 200, 'Ænima' (1996) reached number two and 'Salival' (2000) number 38
while 'Lateralus' (2001) and '10,000 Days' (2006) reached number one and the
latter also topped the Top Rock Albums Chart.
