The son of an American serviceman and a Normandy woman, William Sheller (born Hand in Paris, July 9, 1946) spent his early years in the jazz clubs where his double-bassist father played, and learned classical piano. A composer at heart, he turned to rock with the group Worst and wrote the hit "My Year Is a Day" for Les Irrésistibles. His solo career began with the pop-rock mass Lux Aeterna (1972), followed by success with "Rock'n'dollars " and "Comme dans un vieux rock'n'roll", while the album Symphonan (1977) heralded his ambition to marry his rock and classical influences with ...
