Singer-songwriter Joan Wasser adopted the name Joan As Police Woman for solo
performances and recordings in 2006, inspired by the television crime series
Police Woman starring Angie Dickinson. Born in Biddeford, Maine on 26 July 1970,
she was adopted as a child and grew up in Connecticut where she learned to play
the violin. She studied at Boston University's College of Fine Arts and
performed with the Boston University Symphony Orchestra. She joined up with The
